About Yasmine

Yasmine Ellis was born in Petersfield, Hampshire in 1994, moving soon after to a farm in the town of Petworth. The tranquillity of her childhood is something she enjoys portraying in her artwork. In primary school, her teacher acknowledged her love for art, giving each lesson an artistic association; history lessons involved sewing tapestries.

Throughout her life, art has been an anchor for Yasmine, and when time has been scarce, she has always found time to paint. In her words, “some people attend the gym, others enjoy cycling, whereas I enjoy expressing myself through art”.

After graduating in 2016 from Central Saint Martins – School of the Arts London, she was encouraged to join the graphic design industry. After careful consideration, she chose to avoid the world of graphic design and take other positions in London which wouldn’t anchor her to anything but art.

As Yasmine moved further from her childhood routes, her art became more reflective of home. Her paintings strive to generate a sense of intimacy, isolation and tranquillity while leaving the subject open to interpretation. She enjoys finding the pleasure in landscapes and seascapes, as in the modern day urban world, it is a rarity to experience such awe-inspiring views.
